Ericeira has reliable waves for every level, from beginner beaches to world-class reefs. The town is full of surf camps and schools that need coaches, and many camps pair surfing with yoga.
Finding work
Camps hire for spring and summer from January onwards. A recognised surf coaching qualification (such as ISA or a national federation certificate) plus lifeguard and first aid training is the usual minimum. Languages help, as guests come from all over Europe.
Living there
Rents have risen with the town's popularity, so many staff live in nearby Mafra, Sintra or the villages along the coast. Lisbon is close for days off.
